Samantha was a young 14 year old girl, who was smart, intelligent but shy. She never spoke much. Samantha had to gather courage to speak to a guy of opposite sex. Her straight nose, dusky skin, long silky hair, and bow shaped lips were just perfect, It made one marvel about her beauty, and want her. Her flicks used to cover her big brown eyes, which just made her one eye visible. Excessive kohl (kajal) made her eyes look deep, filled with many secrets.
Samantha’s childhood was filled with joy and happiness; she was jolly, self contended and fearless. Things now are different with her; life now has been a struggle, from the time she has moved in with her mom and step dad. Her eyes shivered with fear, every time her steps grew closer to her house; but her body stiff and alert. Her biggest fear was –the fear of unexpected. Every time she came home, she hurriedly ran to her room and locked it from inside, which prevented anyone from entering.
The small window besides her bed was her only hope. She used to sit there for hours on end, and think about what kind of scared and timid life she was living. She always feared that one day; she will again meet her “so called father’s” lustful eyes. Eyes that will kill her to shame. The look at her body, which bring shame to the soul. The window gave her a new hope, everytime she saw the beautiful rainbow in the sky, she told herself, just like the rainbow in the sky brighten ups evrything. In the same way happiness will fill her life and heal her bruised wounds.
She had immense faith on something that was unseen, but she could feel.
It was her new room; Something made her believe she can do anything she wants. It was something that vanished away her fear. Samantha was clueless, what about the strange nature of her room, she seemed to enjoy the strangeness for a while.
On Saturday morning samantha was cleaning her room, and arranging her stuff in her new house, was keeping her books in the shelf, arranging the flowers in the vase, and humming a song to herself. While sweeping the floor something shone, this caused pain in her eyes. To take a closer look she bent down her bed, It was all dark under the bed, except for the shinny thing. She tried hard to reach for it,at last she got it.It turned out to be a crystal shaped vampire. She admired the way it as crafted, she thought it was one of the kind. She fell in love with the vampire, she spent countless hours talking to him, she used to talk as if, the vampire is talking back to her. The vampire was coaxing her to do something that will put an end to all her suffering. The vampire was showing her dreams of a world all together different from the reality, it was a world where she could be the same old “she” that she was. She spent many days with her crystal vampire, and was absolutely possessed with it.
One cold night when Samantha was fast asleep. She always slept with two jackets, and socks, full trousers, the reason was not because it was cold, the reason was something else. Her step-dad that night again tried to commit his evil acts. He sneaked in her bedroom without making noise. Samantha suddenly woke up, she woke up as if someone warned her. She woke up as if the vampire whispered in her ears. She was facing something that she feared for so long. He pounced on her like an animal that leaps on a prey as soon as he sees it is helpless. Samantha in a matter of second pierced his stomach with the broken vase,it was the same vase that she was decorating while cleaning the room. which she magically found under her bed. When her mom woke up the next morning she couldn’t believe her eyes, and was in a shock. Samantha’s mom disbelieved the fact that her daughter had been harassed by her husband before, and was trying the same now. Samantha was handed over to cops by own mother, and was under trial for murder.
She is in the juvenile delinquency now, still wondering who kept the broken vase under her bed, as she doesn’t remember her vase being broken on the first place.
